The Templeton Hotel
The Templeton Hotel
Tammy & Kris were married at the Templeton Hotel on 1st December 2007. The weather was bitterly cold, with a biting wind and squally showers. Despite that, the day began with a party atmosphere, and just got better as time went on.

I arrived an hour and a half before the ceremony, to find the groom and his party already at the hotel and eager to get started. We braved the outdoors for a few shots of Kris and group shots, before beating a hasty retreat into the warmth of the hotel, for photos in the Templeton’s generous sized bar area.

One of the features of the wedding was the happy little group of children, all dressed up, and pleased to be photographed. They made a lovely little group around the Christmas tree. Tammy herself arrived with her dad in a limo, radiant and smiling, and ready for the big day. The ceremony was short but very moving, with lots of love shining through.

After the marriage ceremony we went out into the Templeton’s garden for a group shot, before darkness fell, and during a lull in the rain. Even as we set up the pose for the shot featured on this page, big drops of rain were falling, and the poor bride was freezing.

Since most of the pictures were going to be inside, I decided to set the cameras (D2x & D100) to slow sync flash, and use higher than usual ISO, with the SB800's dialled down 1.3EV. The effect was to capture the ambient light of the hotel interior (which actually was quite nice - if a little 'yellow') while the fill-in flash gave the subjects decent illumination. There were (inevitably) one or two small problems, for example, slow shutter speeds, despite the ISO being set at 400+ throughout. With lots of children in the bridal party, you can imagine the difficulties!

The evening reception was superb, with professional musicians, a disco and a troupe of Irish dancers, not forgetting our own contribution, our fabulous WEDDING FORMALS photography package, which ensured that a large number of guests went home that very night with a mounted photograph of themselves, as a keepsake to remember a great day and a fabulous evening.

So congratulations to you both, and every best wish for a long and happy life together.
